On October 19, 2002,
over 400 BASE jumpers gathered in Fayetteville, West Virginia to launch
themselves off of the roof of the Go Fast Bus! The bus served as the
exit point atop the 876 high New River Gorge Bridge, for the
annual Bridge Day event the largest BASE jumping event in the
world with over 100,000 spectators in attendance.
Go Fast worked with a team of experts from the BASE jumping community,
members of the Bridge Day Commission in Fayetteville and the National
Park Service to help bring all of the elements of the event together.
ESPN, Sports Illustrated, FOX Sports and the New York Times were all
on hand to wrap their arms around what it takes to be a BASE jumper,
what entices them to jump and the excitement surrounding this annual
gathering at the New River Gorge.
Go Fast would like to thank Jason Bell of
Vertical Visions, Jimmy Pouchert of Vertigo Base Outfitters, Bill
Bird and all of the volunteers who helped make this event possible.
